Photography 20 -Water drop photos

These are only 28 of about 37 photos of water drops that I took. The other photos weren't worth posting, seeing as how they were mainly of water with no - very little ripples or drops. Timing was key to capturing these photos. I cropped some of them and made the majority of the photos brighter on iPhoto, seeing as how the pictures were all very dark.

Not the best, my timing was off for this one and the one below, but I still think these ones were worth posting. The ripples make for an interesting effect.

My group and I placed a page of paper that we coloured with different paints, unfortunately I didn't move the paper down far enough, so that only the coloured paper could be seen. As well, I didn't want to simply crop out the black bottom, because in my mind, that would make the water drop too close to the bottom of the photo and leave a lot of empty space at the top.

Same with this one.

I actually moved the paper down a bit further and was able to crop out the majority of the black bottom of the tray for this photo. This and the one below are the most successful of my coloured water drop photos.

The video we watched as a class on how to capture these photos and everything else made the project seem very simple. But in reality, taking these photos and trying to get photos that were as good as the ones that the guy in the tutorial video got, was a lot harder.

Photography 20 -more photos

Some more photos for Black and White portrait, well the first one of Scott. Then I have some Black and White contrast photos of some birds, followed by some more panning attempts and finally just 3 more of birds in a bundle of twigs that might have turned out better if I had a telephoto lens.

There will be more contrast photos to come, guaranteed

My first pretty good panning photo of a car.

This one did not turn out however. I only included it to show my growth as a photographer. Kind of.

Another pretty good panning shot.

These photos would be better if I could zoom in more on the birds, they're kind of difficult to see.

Photography 20 -Aperture mode

These first two may not seem like they involved much aperture, but I had to focus on the Black capped chickadee which blurred out some of the foreground branches. Same with the one below.

I focused more so on the bench, rather than the flower, and initially I was hoping to capture more of the bench and make the flower more blurred than what it is.

This time I did the opposite, I focused on the flower.

I thought the dripping water was cool, these photos don't involve much aperture, AKA blurring of the background.

I'm proud the way this photo turned out. I initially wanted to focus on the white ball, but it seems like the red is more in focus and clearer than the other two in front. I find this neat and it makes an interesting affect.
