Similar to the water drop assignment, this one was also based on a video done by a photographer. I was trying to get the very specific moment, when the water (coloured water in our case) would swirl around the inside of the goblet and come out as a splash. Kind of like the water making a U shape as it enters and curves around the goblet and exits. This project was the opposite of the previous ones involving low lighting. This one involved a lot of lighting. We used a paper drape instead of cloth (which I think would have made the photos better), because the paper allowed more light to pass through.
I am not very happy with the clarity of these photos. They couldn't be taken on automatic mode, for even at a very high shutter speed, the camera would continuous have to refocus as there would be too much movement. So we used manual mode which I never like using. I can never quite get as crisp and clear a photo in manual mode as I can on automatic mode. So my photos aren't as clear as I would have liked them to be. Also, I only got the opportunity to take some photos during the last few minutes of class. Thus I only got really two tires with this assignment, while others did several trials to get the best picture possible, as well with different colours and lighting. I am hoping that I will get another chance to take more of these photos when I return to school.
One of my favourites, well...I don't like it a lot due to the water and goblet not being in perfect focus, but out of the shots I got, it is one of the better ones.
Don't ask me why this one photo is randomly darker than the others, I honestly have no clue. I was shooting on continuos mode, so it's not like I changed any settings or anything. I really have no idea why it's darker.
This was the second trial I did, these are brighter and slightly better than the set above, and my best photo was taken during this set of shooting. They're still not as clear as I would have liked though.
My favourite ^
And thank you Kate for helping me with this assignment, pouring the water and helping to clean up.
